A two-alarm fire damaged a stand-alone commercial building at the Marketplace at Factoria around 11 p.m. Saturday, April 14. The preliminary damage estimate is $500,000 for the building occupied by Bright Now! Dental, 3820 124th Ave. SE.

Firefighters on Engine Company 4 arrived within five minutes of being dispatched, finding the building’s interior heavily charged with smoke. Soon after their arrival, flames could be seen coming from the roof.

Fire crews were forced to take a defensive stance and extinguish the fire from the exterior due to the risks posed by advanced fire conditions and collapse concerns.

Fire crews from Mercer Island, Kirkland and Eastside Fire and Rescue assisted Bellevue firefighters at the scene. After one hour, the fire was brought under control.

The business was closed for the weekend and no injuries were reported.

The investigation of the fire’s cause and origin began immediately after the fire, but had not been completed as of Monday afternoon. The building’s roof must be stabilized before investigators can safely enter.
